About AIWO

Hello! I'm AIWO, the creator and bookbinder behind AIWOART. As a book binding lover, I've always enjoyed collecting and cherishing beautiful notebooks. Since I was a kid, I liked to play with notebooks and redesign in a way that I loved. Beyond just collecting and cherishing, a few years ago I started to study bookbinding and many related skills. I am passionate about bookbinding process and find peace and comfort when making books. Even now, whenever I stitch a book, I am convinced that this is what I want to do, and it is truly meaningful. I record and film the process of designing and making books, editing these into relaxing videos which I share on YouTube. I hope that those who watch can feel a sense of relaxation and healing from them.

About Me

I was born in China and now live with my husband and two kids in California, USA. Since my childhood, I have had a deep passion for crafts, drawing and book collection. I fondly recall eagerly saving my allowance to purchase the most exquisite notebooks and treasuring them in my personal box. Whenever I feel stressed, simply looking at the notebooks gave me a profound sense of relief and contentment.

Today, that small box has blossomed into a thriving studio, bringing my expanding dream to life. I diligently record and film the art of bookbinding, sharing these moments on my YouTube channel. My sincere hope is that these videos offer you serenity and relaxation. If you feel the same way I do or even you become interested in bookbinding,  it would be my utmost honor.

Immersing myself in the world of bookbinding, I frequently delve into books and resources to refine my skills, all while incorporating various techniques to enhance my designs. I take great delight in crafting tranquil and meticulously edited videos, available for viewing on my social media platforms. I am deeply grateful to my viewers and followers—your unwavering support fills me with confidence and an unwavering belief in this chosen path.

The Origin Of AIWO

The name "AIWO" comes from a dream I had right after graduating from a college. I wanted to start my own business and have a studio related to bookbindings. In Chinese, the literal meaning of AIWO is "love my home," and it can also be phonetically translated to mean "love myself." Today, I am finally starting to realize this dream. I hope it is filled with energy, spreading positive vibes, and offering everyone who pauses here a moment of rest and healing.

Thoughts On Bookbinding

I love bookbinding. The process allows me to fully concentrate, think deeply, and immerse myself completely. This joy cannot be replaced by anything else. When a book is created and it records someone's precious memories, I feel immense satisfaction and accomplishment. If it can bring joy and happiness to someone, then it is all worth it.

Imagine on a sunny morning, warm sunlight falls on you, and a gentle breeze blows. The notebook on the brown coffee table flutters slightly in the wind, and the steaming coffee cup gives off a rich aroma. The surroundings are quiet, with occasional bird chirps. Inspiration strikes, and quickly pick up the pen to capture that fleeting idea. Such moments are so pleasant, and the notebook is the medium to preserve these beautiful instances.
